Worried_sick, please read DaveNewcastle's post(s) very carefully. There are two crucial points that will answer your question regarding your plea.

Looking back at your first post, you said that you had a ticket, but not for the route you were on - so technically, you did not have a ticket or a valid ticket.

The court will have evidence that you did not have a valid ticket for travel. Can you provide any concrete evidence to the contrary? Can you prove beyond reasonable doubt that you had authority to travel - i.e. a written note by an authorised member of railway staff?

If you cannot provide any cast-iron evidence to support a "not-guilty" plea, than I think you know the answer to your question.

If I may add to the expert advice already given, don't waste your time and more importantly, don't waste the court's time

I would like to thank you for all your advice and assistance in this matter.
With the assistance of a local criminal defence solicitor, I attended the court hearing and on that day, an out of court settlement was negotiated. Thankfully I do not have any offence recorded against my name and my clean record remains intact.
So much worry and stress over 6 months is now at an end and I will ensure aI no longer rush to get a train without first having paid for a ticket.

Good to hear! I think that this shows the value in getting a solicitor if you're unable to settle in the first instance.
