Welcome to the forum!

Inspectors are able to ascertain a range of information from scanning your card. Could you elaborate on the circumstances of your fare evasion and members will be happy to offer relevant advice.
  • We need to know all relevant facts in order to assist you, including, for example:
    • The stations where you started & finished your journey;
    • The stations where you changed trains (if applicable);
    • If you presented a ticket(s), the information stated under "Ticket type", "From", "To", "Route", and any other relevant details;
    • What happened in any encounter with railway staff;
    • Uploading copies of any paperwork (with personal details redacted) with your post.
  • Be careful not to post anything incriminating or personally identifying
  • We need to know what outcome(s) you would consider satisfactory
Where abouts were you stopped? And with respect to ticket type in particular, were you using a Freedom Pass, 11-15 oyster, staff oyster or similar type of high value pass, or was this a regular blue oyster card or contactless card?

On the other hand, there‘s no fare or ticket information they can scan from a contactless debit or credit card. All they can do with that is check the card is not hotlisted, and on a bus they can check if you’ve touched in by comparing the card number against info downloaded from the bus, at the time.

On rail, tube or DLR they record a touch in, and determine later if the card is already touched in.

Ah of course. I seem to remember that three failed inspections on a contactless card will result in it being blacklisted by TfL (and assuming that this is something that would come up on future inspections).
It would be useful to know therefore the type of card in question to be able to help with your situation.

Why are you asking - have you encountered a problem with which you need help?
