Hi, I've just received a letter from northern rail about me not paying for a ticket. It was from Preston to Blackburn.
As I was in a rush at Preston I did not buy a ticket at the station and intended to buy it on the train but I did not see the conductor to buy a ticket.
When I got off the train I went to leave the station and was stopped and asked for my ticket which I did not have one. I explained what had happened and I did think that these were the people that you can buy your ticket off when you get off the train, after the man took my details I offered to pay the ticket fare there and then but he told me to go on my way.
I have not received a letter telling me to fill out my details at the bottom and offer an explanation as to why I did not have a ticket.
I am really worried now that I will be taken to court or given a massive fine if I do not provide a good enough reason.
I regret not getting my ticket now and I'm really worried that I will have to go to court.
Has any one got any idea of what my fine might be and if I will have to go to court. This is my first offence.
Please help me
