Fare advice - PRIV to Heathrow

Hello fare gurus.

Looking for the cheapest way to get from Kings Cross (using free travel pass) to Heathrow using a PRIV card (no boxes available).

Happy to use any route but using Heathrow Express would be preferable using the underground to transfer from Kings cross.

I know nothing about London/cross London ticketing so over to you guys.

I believe that unless you are safeguarded staff, you can't get a PRIV fare on London Underground - but Underground travel as part of a cross-London PRIV fare is OK. So something like Harringay to Heathrow (starting short at King's Cross) should probably do the job: £6.75 single, £11.75 return, and valid on Heathrow Express.

I think you'll find that you cannot get priv or free travel on the Hayes & Harlington to Heathrow section of the "Heathrow Connect" route.

You can use it between Paddington & Hayes & Harlington (and of course you could also use a FGW Turbo service between these points).

I believe you can also get a priv on the Heathrow Express all the way (although there used to be restictions at certain times of day - don't know if that still applies).

A good alternative, but slower, is to use the train from Paddington as far as Hayes & Harlington, and then the frequent red London bus from the stop outside the railway station, which runs to a terminus at Heathrow bus station (very close to what used to be Terminals 1, 2, & 3). Terminals 4 or 5 would require a further red London bus or a one stop train ride - all of which I believe are free within the airport's perimeter.

There is also a red London bus to Terminal 5 from, (I think, but you'd need to check) West Drayton station on the main line out of Paddington: again from the station forecourt. Transport for London's website will have the full details.

Red London bus route 140 every 8 minutes from Hayes & Harlington railway station to Heathrow central bus station.

Red London bus route 350 every 12 minutes from West Drayton railway station to Heathrow Terminal 5.

Combined with a priv from Paddington to Hayes or West Drayton, these buses should work out much cheaper than Heathrow Express; particularly if you have an Oyster for the bus.

Whoa, stop short at Heathrow? What, is it a journey to Woking via the railair coach service or something?
