Fare Advice Manchester-Crewe

Hello

Does anyone know the cheapest way to get between Manchester and Crewe, it is a single journey. Leaving Manc at around 5.30-6.30 on Tuesday.
Cheapest I get is £8.30 with Virgin, is it cheaper to split anywhere?

The Virgin only through ticket will be the cheapest.

If you split, you won't benefit from the cheaper Virgin only option, this will cost more and force you onto a slow train.

Splitting doesn't work with a route like MAN-CRE.
