Just glancing at RTT for Dingwall shows 7 cancellations (5 Far North, 2 on the Kyle line) out of 26 scheduled services yesterday.

In plain language, more than one quarter of trains were nixed.

Most seem put down to crewing issues (is there a flu epidemic or something up there?), but the 18.30 Inverness to Wick was down to a "planned cancellation by the train operator".

So that's all right then - the cancellation was planned. (I'm sure the pax went home happy after that explanation was given.)

Good for local taxi companies, one would imagine, but anyone know more about what was really going on?

Are they desperate for stock in the Central Belt? The 385 crisis is causing real problems around here.

There is currently an overtime ban in place for maintenance staff. This would probably be causing reliability issues.
I know somebody who works at Corkerhill and he says its grim but it's set to get a whole lot worse over the coming weeks as the guards join the ban.

What's the reason for the overtime ban?

They want the same bonus for rest day working as drivers get.

Yesterday's problems on the Far North were down to driver turns uncovered and numerous 158s out of traffic due to faults.
