I wonder if anyone can answer this please?

My daughter and I had zones 1-6 1 day paper travel cards purchased with a Family & Friends Railcard.

I lost my daughter's ticket.

When we started our homeward journey my daughter used her Oyster ZIP card and I continued to use my 1 day travel card.

Was it okay for me to do this or should I too have used my PAYG Oyster?

That's a difficult one. You were travelling with a child and presumably still had the F&F railcard to validate your ticket. I think you should probably have been ok, but it depends on interpretation of the rules. It's certainly possible for a child on the discount to accompany an adult without discount where the adult is returning alone.

From a Revenue Protection point of view, I'd suggest that showing a discounted Adult ticket with no accompanying Child one would render you liable to at least a Penalty Fare, and possibly a Byelaw prosecution (one under RoRA is extremely unlikely to succeed, IMO, given the "hoops" that have to be jumped through to get a discounted Adult ticket with no accompanying Child one).

I'm not sure how you reach that conclusion. It says that one named cardholder and at least one child must be travelling to obtain the discount; it doesn't say they must both be travelling on discounted tickets.
