Family/friends railcard ??

I have purchased a F/F Railcard.. what i desperatley need to find out before friday is...can my mum as the 2nd card holder.. buy tickets to use on the same journey as me on the same day.
To let you understand I purchased 4Adults and 2kids tickets to got to Blackpool next week,my mum and dad have now decided to come along with my nieces and mum being the 2nd card holder has purchased their tickets on our F/F railcard.
Is this allowed??? all i can find is the 2nd card holder cant use it for a different journey.please help ))
it has been to seperate bookings but we would all be travelling together??

The maximum group size is up to four adults (aged 16 years and over) including the named cardholder(s), and four children (aged 5-15 years)

If your mum and dad are ADDITIONAL to that group size then the tickets are not eligible for discount.

Ahh! i thot as 2names were on the card you could both use it to book tickets,ie she book her friends and i book mine so in total maximum people are 4adults and 4children.including both us .
Wonder if i could get a refund on those tickets as we wont be able to use them ,new ones will need to be bought!

You can excess the tickets up to full price, i.e. you just pay the difference between the discounted fare and the full fare.

If you apply for a refund, there is a £10 admin fee per ticket.

Depending on the value of the tickets and how much it would cost to excess them might it be cheaper to purchase a second family railcard?

First, you need to tell us whether you hold Advance tickets or flexible tickets. If you hold Advance tickets, I suspect a change fee of £10 per Adult or Child ticket may be charged. If you do have Advance tickets, tell us the number of Adults, number of Child tickets and prices of each and we'll calculate the best thing to do.

If you hold flexible tickets, then before your journey starts on Friday you need to make a calculation and do one of two things. First calculate how much it would cost to excess the additional tickets (i.e. those tickets after the first 4 Adults and 4 Children) from the Railcard discounted rate to the full rate.

The Adult tickets have been discounted by 34% from the normal Adult fare. The Child tickets have been discounted by 62% from the normal Child fare. To calculate how much the excess fare will be, you need to take 51.5% of the amount that has been paid for each additional Adult ticket and add to that 1.632 times the amount that has been paid for any additional Child ticket(s). Let's call this the excess amount.

If the excess amount is £26 or more then any two Adults in the party should buy another Friends & Family Railcard. This must be done before the start of the first journey with the additional tickets. The tickets which have been purchased could then be used with the new Railcard (up to a limit of 4 Adults and 4 Children per Railcard).

If the excess amount is less than but close to £26, consider whether there are likely to be other journeys during the 12-month validity of the extra Railcard where the discount would enable the purchase price to be recovered.

If the excess amount is well below £26, then pay this before the start of the first journey with the additional tickets. There should be no admin fee if you hold flexible tickets.
