Hi all!
Apologies as I’m sure this is asked a million times, but I’m winding myself up over it and am hoping it’s not as bad as I’m convincing myself it is.
Earlier today, I bought and completed a journey to a temporary work location. It’s the third time I’ve done this route, and it uses mTickets which I’ve used very rarely in the past (most of my work journeys are e-ticket-types!).
I usually activate my tickets at the point of having to go through the ticket barriers, but when returning home today the barriers were open (I assume because they were unmanned?). As such, my usual reminder to activate wasn’t there. I fully acknowledge that it’s my duty to activate and forgetting is no excuse!
On the train, I noticed I hadn’t activated when the conductor came around about a minute into the journey. I apologised and activated it there and then, and he said he would have to mark it on his device as ‘not activated before travel’. I think he scanned the QR code but not 100% sure.
He reminded me to activate before travel in future and carried on through the train.
My questions are thus: what is likely to be the next course of action? If I do receive anything through the post, is it worth appealing on the basis of an innocent mistake caused by the lack of barriers acting as a reminder?
I’m annoyed at myself more than anything, especially as it’s a ticket paid for by work so there wasn’t even a financial motive. :/
Thanks in advance!
