Passed both applications for too separate TOCs, my problem now is failing both the SJT, was wondering has anyone got some advice on answering them, is it best to just be honest when answering the situations or put yourself in the shoes of a Train Driver?

To Be honest those who fail usually haven't yet gained the ability to make quick effective & safety conscious decisions in a time critical situations. This is only through work or life experiences.

This did make me chuckle. I dipped the SJT for MTR. I'm a police officer with 12 years in the job so I'm fairly familiar with making quick effective decisions in time critical situations. I think there is a knack to them - we use them in my day job for promotion processes now and there isn't a correct answer. But I don't buy what your job or life experience is. It's down to what you perceive to be the correct answer and what the person (often a psychologist) has decided to be the best answer ! Best of luck.

Cheers donpoku, have plenty of experience in safety critical roles & plenty of life experience, this was why I was wondering were I am going wrong, answered both honestly & with my safety critical, customer focused head on, just a bit confused at the mo.

If you think the SJT has no right answer you wanna try that Saville Consultancy thing that builds a profile of you.
Basically answers range from strongly Disagree through to Strongly Agree, you are asked 5 q's then the ones you agree most with
e.g.
I am safety Conscious
I have good concentration
I am the dream employee

you then have to select which is most like you and then weirdy the least like you, so after putting something down as a positive you have to put 1 of them into the negative

there are about 18 pages of those 5 question things that go onto a 2nd page i.e. most/least like.

apparently consistency comes into it a lot as you are re asked very similar things

Was told that was the goal & purpose of it in relation to trainee drivers. Note the word DECISIVE & EFFECTIVE was main emphasis. People failed because either were indecisive or inconsistent with their choice meaning you answered thinking that's what the toc would want/like.

Think that's were I could be going wrong, answering the question thinking that's what TOC would like to hear. Don't think my answers were indecisive more along the lines of being inconsistent, thanks for the feed back guys been a great help.
