Chaos on SWR suburban this morning, 2D05 0609 Waterloo to Guildford has failed at platform 11 which means the down slow is closed from Vauxhall to Wimbledon.

Does anyone know the cause of failure or why it is taking so long to move the failed unit?

Combined with the flooding at Walton closing all but the up slow, not a good morning for commuters.

The power has tripped in multiple locations, they also had to remove an object from the shoe gear of the failed train, power had been restored now, a full service to resume from 10:12 at Waterloo, with service recovery by 12pm.

It turned out to be a large rat caught around the shoe gear that caused the problems this morning

2D05 appears to have been 455705 and 455868.

868 is now booked to work 2H93 but with 738 so would appear 705 is the unlucky unit today.

Just an educated guess through looking at RTT...

868 is spanners
And still going strong on the 1942 Waterloo - Shepperton. Still haven't caught it yet, not in London much anymore...might need to change that!

Update: In case anyone was interested, 705 returned to traffic today so thankfully not out of service long term. Would I be right in thinking it would have been taken to Wimbledon Park after its little mishap? If so, impressive turnaround for a fix, well done to the South West division!
