I'm on the 09.30 from Euston to Glasgow Central and have been at a standstill in the Beattock area for an hour due to a failed freight train just ahead of us. The TM has said that a loco is being sent to rescue the freight but is not likely to arrive until about 15.00.
The following Edinburgh bound service is in a loop to the left of my train. No idea when we'll be on the move but crew have been attentive with another run of hot and cold drinks in 1st and water taken along to Standard.
Delay Repay forms given out too.

It looks like this was 455V Daventry DRS to Mossend Euroterminal which seems to have failed just north of Beattock, causing lots of problems for Glasgow and Edinburgh bound services from London and Manchester Airport.
I was in Edinburgh awaiting the 1533 to Euston which eventually arrived at 1655 (thanks to Realtime Trains for being ahead of the announcement game at Edinburgh).
Many thanks also to the Virgin crew with an impressive 7 minute turnaround at Edinburgh. The Shop crew had to get off at Carlisle (with much apology) to get back on schedule, and the Train Manager actually mentioned Delay Repay (a first?).
Whatever your opinion of the Beardy Bloke, his boys and girls really pushed hard today to make the best of a situation which was not their fault.
