Hi, I applied for a trainee driver vacancy at Tweedbank and did'nt even get shortlisted. I work as a paramedic so have vast experience in working in a safety critical role under pressure and dealing with customers. I do however live up in Wick so would this be the reason?
Its unfortunate as relocating would not be a problem either.

It could be many reasons, I myself once applied for a RPI job with FGW and got accepted, but once applied for gateline and got rejected.

Location is most likely the reason and the new European directive on the fatigue index will mean anyone further than 45 minutes from their home depot will not get the job

Likewise , knocked backed within days of application being submitted, currently a manager in an industry where safety and customer service are everything but stay about 1and 1/2 hrs drive from Tweedbank. Thought I put in a reasonable application too, didnt make the first round, again

Like others have said could be any reason.

I applied for trainee driver with GA and got paper sifted out but applied for trainee conductor and got the job. I was even on the same induction as people who applied for the driver job!

Location is a problem if you are not willing to/able to relocate. I got the job even though at the time of interview I lived over 200 miles away from the depot but said during my interview I was prepared to relocate.

I didn't even know there was a depot at Tweedbank? I imagine it is a very small one, anyone else have any information on it, links etc

There could be many reasons for rejecting. As someone who reads applications every day, though not for any railway organisation, I can say that there are definitely people who would probably be an excellent candidate who fail because their application form is poorly worded, lacking in relevant information, or beset by spelling and grammar errors.

What the recruiter for any position is looking for is a close match between the information laid out in the application and the specification for the person and job as set out in the advert. Not only that, but it is far better to set out situations you may have faced, how you dealt with the situation and what the outcome was. This tells someone far more than something like 'I have a great deal of knowledge of xxxx'.

You may not believe how quickly you tire of reading the same thing over and over again, usually something like 'I am a hard working, conscientious individual who has a lot of experience in dealing with people'!
