Failed 2nd MMI advice please

Recently I failed my second attempt at the MMI. This is very galling as I passed 2 separate line manager interviews for different depots. My first attempt was taken the day after overhearing an emergency call whilst dispatching a driver only service. I was quite shaken up by it I won't go into details. In hindsight I perhaps should have not taken my first attempt at the time. However I thought that saying I was not in the right mental frame of mind, after overhearing an emergency call in relation to a fatality. It would be deemed that I was not suitable for the role so kept quiet and had the interview. Can anyone who is genuinely in the know advise me whether it is worth asking for the first attempt to be voided for the reason above or is it a case of two hopes Bob and no

I'm fairly certain the "two strike" rule will be applied. When I took the assessments back in February, I was asked on each day if I was happy to continue. By replying yes at that point, it is assumed you are of sound mind to do so. I may be wrong, and you may be able to get one attempt voided, but I don't believe that to be the case.
Knowing how compassionate TOC's are regarding fatalities, I suspect that if you'd explained what had happened the previous day, you may have been excused until a later date.

Yes, the OPC chap said at my assessment that if you say something before, or sometimes eve during the test, they can do something about it. Once the test is over that is it, and no pleas can be entertained. Sorry!

That said, why not ask the OPC and see what they say?

If overhearing an emergency call shook you up enough for you to think it affected your answering the questions in interview the next day how would you cope with a real time emergency call actually directed at you as a driver? Sorry but if you try to use this as a reason for failing at interview I am sure you will not get anywhere, if they do allow you to take another interview bearing this incident in mind it certainly will not help you.

Just so you know the call involved the driver explaining that the body had entered the cab area. An experienced driver who also overheard it was visibly shaken up by what he heard as well.
