Facilities you wouldnt see on a train

1st class compartments would be very good.

Also I like the idea of tv screens so you can have a drivers eye view, they could either go in 1st class or a special designated area (or at least a gps system that tells you exactly where you are on the screen

I think compartments in 1st could eb a very good idea, not all of the seats ofc.

Maybe some Sofastyled Bench seats taking up the space of 2+1/2 regular first seats (ie could seat three people if required.)

Then that 1+1/2 space could eb the corridor, and a little space for the door to open and you to get to your seat (sliding doors?)

A bit like this with comfortable sofa-benches though

Or maybe add shaded glass partition between the corridor and seat backs (maybe even doors?) like here

Have you seen how much little leg room there is in your first picture though? I would pay for that.

Often thought a barbers could be useful, but alas dangerous and expensive.

On the side note of wetherspoons on trains, I've often wondered why they don't branch into (dry) motorway services with their food menus.

A good idea but again - wouldnt the tanks to hold the water be taking up too much room in which ever carriage they were in.. plus a tank to hold the dirty water unless your saying drop it on the track.

I would change for a table (maybe with fold away elements to give more entry and exit room) and sofa-benches, to allow you to squeeze a 3rd person in if you where travelling in a group of 5 or 6

Yes, and the legroom is not great. The standard layout of 3 seats across in 1st class, 4 across in 2nd, but the number of bays is the same, so legroom is the same.

Well when you've got a loading gauge as generous (relatively) as our European cousins have I would be disappointed if they didn't have fancy things like that. But it certainly does look good and I wouldn't mind a trip on one!

Actually, they are quite cramped. Much better are the double-decker CNLs, with the deluxe sleepers on the upper level. The bed is separate from the table and chairs - so you don't have to convert from one to the other - and there are four windows to look out of. Together with the en-suite shower/toilet, it really fees like a mini hotel room.

Best of all, in my opinion, is the only deluxe sleeping compartment on the Vienna - Rome sleeper (in the middle of the coach). I was lucky to travel on this this twice last year. The compartment is twice the size of a normal sleeping compartment, has a bathroom, and a double bed! Never seen that before on a train. You also get an "a la carte" breakfast which you choose the night before.
