I did have Twitter, but I got rid of it. Never understood how you were supposed to use it and didn't get round to posting much anyway.

So it was effectively....shredded tweet.

I don't like texting even, takes so much less time to speak than type! I suppose TOCs using twitter avoids the risk of having people ranting on at them, but in a way its not fair on those of us that don't use it.

Just out of interest, which TOCs have the best Twitter feeds in your view?

FGW, manned 8am -4pm everyday by a lady named jo subjected to endless reams of abuse about her ****(enter any rude word here, its probably been said on the twitter feed) trains.
Very good info comes from that feed!
and ollie often replies to customers outside of Jo's 8-4 on a unofficial basis

check out @fgw then and check all the ranting, mostly from clueless commuters. The other day it was receiving an endless supply of abuse from commuters, as there was a signalling fault. All the commuters had decided it was FGWs fault

I get sick of all these statues about how people are changing, about they plan to leave their tiresome pasts behind and ride ahead into the sunset. But you see these people on a day to day basis and there's absolutely nothing different about them.

I have to say FCC, especially as it's about the ONLY way to get accurate information when things go wrong. Relying on the departure boards/platform signs is pointless as FCC can't get the Atos system to convey detailed, or even accurate, information.

I don't see what's so hard about putting up the word 'Delayed.'

But, no, FCC can end up with services that are 'on time' when they don't exist - and then counting up delays, when - again - they don't exist (due to an earlier service being cancelled).

They rarely put descriptions on the system to explain the delays, and usually rely on platform staff to pick up the pieces. Except, platform staff at some stations like to disappear when things go tits up, or at least hide.

Meanwhile, Ally at FCC is trying to convey accurate information to those who follow her. She does an exceptional job given the circumstances. Like other companies on Twitter, the abuse they have to put up with is crazy.

Given how many businesses have signs to say that they won't accept abuse, I wonder if anyone will ever take action against someone on Twitter for sending abusive messages that would probably get them arrested for public order if they dared say the same thing to a member of staff on a station platform.

Oh yes, I've a couple folk like that. I've hidden their posts as I know that if I deleted them I'd get grief for it.

One was a woman I used to work with. She went from saying she was applying to join the police to saying she was looking at moving abroad to saying she had met 'Mr Right' all within the space of a couple weeks. 2 weeks later the status update was that "All men are b*******".
