Facebook Messenger hackings

I logged into my Facebook half an hour ago and it seems like my account was hacked earlier on, my entire friend list and previous contacts (some of whom I haven't spoken to in years) were messaged with some dodgy link. I've since deleted all messages but A) I look like a total twit and B) I'm worried if this has caused any sort of security issues with other apps/forums etc. I don't seem to have been hacked anywhere else and thankfully my bank account isn't affected but any idea on what to do next?

Also just for general awareness - don't click any of these links. I believe they are going around.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

First thing to do is change your password. If you've got any other accounts that use the same username and password, change them too.

I'm not sure if Messenger has an option which allows you to log out everywhere (if you're logged in on desktop/mobile etc.) but if it does, use it.

Is this in FB messenger? I had a strange message from a friend the other day on FB, played along as it was like a bot and came up with a link in the end about investments. I knew after the second message it wasn't him.

I have two-factor verification in my FB settings.
I suppose a hacker could sit on your password for ages if you are not active.

I've just had a quick check on my own Facebook account. I'm using a browser on a desktop machine and I haven't tried it on a mobile app, but if you go to:

Facebook

www.facebook.com

Click on "Security and login" and look for "where you're logged in". Anything suspicious should show up, but log everything out if you're unsure.

Unlikely, unless you reuse the same password...
