There was talk of Class 68s being used but I hadn't seen any mention of what stock.

Now I see why there were several extra services between Norwich and Great Yarmouth listed on RTT for that weekend when I was looking a few weeks ago (I'm planning a daytrip to Yarmouth on June 16th, and wasn't aware of this event taking place; gives me another reason to make the trip now).

The RMT have announced that they are due to strike on June 16th & June 23rd. Given that usually the short set doesn't run on strike days, I wonder if the hauled extras will happen. Nothing yet on AGA site

I reckon PUG’s will operate them if necessary. No way AGA are going to cancel those extra services - PR disaster if passengers are unable to get to Yarmouth that day because of a strike

The short hauled set ran on the last strike day. The PUGs on these are conductor managers rather than those drafted in from elsewhere in the business & Scotrail.

Scotrail PUGS? They really aren’t giving in are they!

The extra services are running today, and several have been formed of a Mk3 rake (including the DVT) topped-and-tailed by 68s, exactly as was mentioned by sharpinf. Currently on the 1055, which is one of these rakes. I'll try to grab a pic of the rake while in Yarmouth.

Plenty of trainspotters lined the route to take pics/videos as the service passed through. Guess it has been a while since Mk3s travelled along this route.

Begs the question as to what happens post the new fleets being introduced to provide this sort of capacity in the future.

Will there be enough slack in the 'bi-mode' rural fleet to provide a bit of extra capacity for this sort of event in the flatlands?

Probably be able to manipulate the 755s by substituting 720s in some way.

Terminate all Lowestoft services at Ipswich with electric train forward. Same at Ely for Norwich to Stansted services.

The former is exactly what happened in NXEA days along with pining the Peterboroughs. Perfect way of manipulating more diesel trains to where they where most needed.

I know. Just don't assume the trains will meet.
