Can anyone tell me why the 09.40 Plymouth to London Paddington FGW HST service today (15/4) had an extra TRFB in it's formation? The coach was situated between the last of the TF coaches up front & the front power car. Many thanks.

Theres a load of dodgy sets about at the mo. Take yesterday 1A96 1554 PNZ-PAD had 4 standard class, 3 first class(1 declassified) and a buffet. Expect anything in terms of coach formation!

Cheers Liam bud. Must admint, it's the first time I've seen a 9-car FGW set, thought only GNER ran those on a reg service? lol ;)

9 car sets with an additional coach between the TGS and power car are fairly common. Normally when a set starts at one depot and ends at another and is used as a way of moving a spare coach from one depot to another such as LA to OOC. It would of been locked out of use.

There are indeed some mix match sets about due to the refurbishment program with some being shortformed (7), others have odd spare coachs stuck in to make up capacity, and in some cases at moment declassified first class coachs making up the standard class portion.
