Heard this from a gen group, 'Saw in another forum that apparently 12 additional 5 car Desiros have
been ordered. Anyone know any more? Could be 444s or even 5 car
suburban 450s...

Paul'

Off SWTDG from Paul.

Is it true?, are they going to replace the 455s?.

how did I guess you would go on about 319s.

They are not going to be replaced, and haven't got a replacement yet.

They won't last forever...

What I meant was, no replacement yet... But its pretty obvious they wont last forever. Even when they go, yes it will be sad cos they are what got me into trains to start with... But its only trains...

So thus that gives you no arguement to rant on how bad the 455s could be, 455s did the same for me and no doubt that 455s have been around longer than the Dual Voltage 319s!.

That means the 319s will have to go into store, or go over to somewhere else!.

455's are a great success story IMHO and were something like 2nd generation units of their type. There are a lot of similarities between 319's and 455's.

IMO 455s are bad, no toilets...

30 377s wont cover the 60+ 319s though...

Yes SWT have ordered more 450s been told some will be high density and others will be an express version of the 450s, regarding the newly refurbished ones seen 548,554 and 555 but one apparently escaped the windsor line last week to Basingstoke already lol.

It's true. Should be one set going to FCC for driver training in July with other sets following for the Dec 2008 timetable change. They will be complementing the 319s and not replacing them. Just not sure on the numbers.

I haven't heard anything about a new order.

They do need them though at least I think so.

What happened to those 455's that used to run everything on the suburban side before the desiro's?

No slammers didn't run the Hounslow loop and the Windsor line. The 455's aren't doing anything extra and the only difference was two 455's were going away at a time for refurbishment. Now it's rare to get a 455 working down to Windsor or Hounslow.

Yeah, Means Shepperton,Kingston Loop, Dorking, Guildford New Line and the Tolworth Branches plus Chessington get to keep the 455s :D, so alot of them are still in use!.

Women Mainly Ramel and Loader, your arguing over units , it dosen't matter about what Service Croydon gets, thats just full of Southern. We're on the topic of 450s, not how southern managed to overcrowd 455s and the rest of their fleet with crowds.....,

Well look at South West Trains first, every day i see commuters stuffing themselves into the Box Machines @ Wimbledon and Clapham Junction even though they are full!
it would make sense to have an extra service- Surbiton-Waterloo Non-Stop or Raynes Park-London Waterloo non-stop

By the way, one of the doors of your "lovely" trains was broken
someone pressed open, but when they let go of their hands off the button, the doors closed without any warning , so i had to hold onto the Open button

If there are trains every 3-5 minutes during the day between Raynes Park and Waterloo and they're still getting wedged, I don't think the solution is to stop less trains between the points. Some services ex Guildford, Alton and Basingstoke are fast from Surbiton to Waterloo.

Sounds like a dodgy button.Come across this loads of times but must be easy to fix.
