Exterior styling

So as part of my ergonomic cab project, I also need to style the exterior a bit. So I was wondering what the membership thinks looks good? I'm not talking here about your favourite train, but what you think looks the best. for example, Deltics are awesome, but theyre not great lookers (apart from the prototype) So i'll say Kestral and the class 47s are probably my favourite lookers.

Is this for a Locomotive? I quite like the TRAXX and Taurus (OBB, not the 2007 redesign) styling, as well as the Re460.

For units I do quite like the style of the current Stadler units, though they do remind me of an Optare Solo.

Bear in mind that new regs require the impact protection zone to be in front of the driver, so I'd go for a pointy nose rather then a Class 70 style...

I think the output from the BR Design panel in the mid-60s is still the benchmark. As you say, the 47s, Lion, Kestrel etc. But for me the best lookers were the Beyer-Peacock Hymeks (?Class 35 - off the top of my head). The design principles from them could be developed into modern standards - look at the way you can see a distinct family tree from the 47 through 56 to 60s and 92

i think it depends on what its gonna be used for. If its a HST or IC225 type train then I think those types of existing styles are fine, maybe just modernised a bit...

If you including coaches, just make sure you do nothing weird! Just follow the MK3 and MK4 styling, I think its almost perfect!

I'm just wondering what you all think looks good. Don't worry too much about what my design will be like, I have the british standard for rail vehicle body crash worthiness (BS EN15227 if anyone is interested) and I'll work something out. Hopefully it'll be better looking then the class 70, if it doesn't then I have failed completely as a transport designer!

How could I forget the class 60 though? They really do look as powerful and purposeful as they are, especially painted in the original livery.
