There have been some very disturbing emails put about lately by somebody attempting to impersonate me.

We have a fair idea of just who it is, and I am approaching my email hosts with a view to confirming his identity and allowing the law to take over.

This person has set up an email account in the name of alanwheeler12@yahoo.co.uk and has sent out emails linking to the stolen work uploaded to esnips.com by BVECOLORADO (or OpenBVEr, whatever this thief chooses to call himself nowadays.)

If you receive any mail from alanwheeler12@yahoo.co.uk please be aware that THIS IS NOT ME, IT IS AN IMPOSTER!

My own genuine email address is alanwheeler12<at>yahoo<dot>com and I have no connection at all to the address which the imposter gives.

I have reported him to Yahoo, and intend to get him removed. If I find there is a law he has broken I will push for the maximum penalties against him.

Remember once more, ignore any mail from alanwheeler12@yahoo.co.uk but please feel free to spam this bogus account into the oblivion it deserves.

Thank you,

Alan.

How do we know this is the REAL guillyman? You could be the imposter.

That be one's for the mod's to check - they can access the IP address which was used to make the post and then can compare against the normal ones 'Guillyman' uses'??

It's just an idea

I can confirm that this is an exact, carbon-copy of a post that I know has been made by the REAL Guillyman.

Why, would anyone do this?

It's shocking and a thing I would not do.

That's not on.

Why?

You could of course be quite correct, Striker, and I thank you very much for your concern. This is the sort of responsibility we need so much in the BVE world.

All the evidence suggests that our imposter could either be, or be associated with, a certain BVECOLORADO / OpenBVEr who is taking revenge on me for having had the nerve to challenge him over his plagiarism and theft of work from many of the top developers around the world. The imposter earlier attempted to retrieve the password from my Yahoo account, and we suspect it was him too who tried to hack into the domain control panel at BVE Terminus. I campaigned for OpenBVEr to be barred from BVE Wiki because he was constantly posting links to his theft and removing links to genuine work. The Wiki page for UK trains has been decimated by this person.

Happily, Uwe banned OpenBVEr, (see bottom of page here: http://wiki.bve-routes.com/index.php/User_talk:Admin ) and I am now in the process of removing the links to his plagiarism he has posted on the Wiki. We are almost 100% certain that the latest episode is this guy's idea of obtaining revenge, and I am presently awaiting a reply from Yahoo to see if we can place a positive identification on this person.

The BVE world will be well rid of him, he is, in footballing parlance, bringing these simulators into disrepute.

Thank you for your attention,

Al. (or is it...? - Perhaps the Admins here would like to reassure our readers of my veracity...)

Is it me of does anyone else think the whole BVE world is a bit of a farce these days? There are some great new add-ons being released from various hard-working developers, particularly those at BRT (sorry, what a shameful plug to my own site :p)...this is being overshadowed by, quite frankly, pathetic behaviour from several members of the 'community'.

Grow up people.

As far as I can tell the person posting in this thread is in fact the real guillyman!

Phew! :)

Thank you, Jordy. This thread may seem trivial to some members of the community, but I really don't want people to get the idea that the real guillyman emails people with links to work which has been plagiarised from major developers from all over the world.

The Yahoo fraud Team have taken this very, very seriously and are in the process of identifying the imposter. Evidence presently indicates that it could well be the same person who hacked into a colleague's email account and spammed it to send a virus link to all his contacts, also the same person who attempted to log into the cpanel control at BVE Terminus.

Nice.

Thank you for your attention,

Al. :)

If it's any help, I've received emails from this address to a private email account linked to my server ... I reported it as spam to my hosting provider ...

I immediately knew it wasn't guillyman as he hasn't emailed me in ages ...

Out of interst, would this be why BVE Terminus was being identified as an unsafe site when I Googled it a few months ago? I know one of the better download sites was, but I can't now remember which one.

It's been that way off and on for as long as I can remember.

Indeed! It's a great shame because several of the top developers, including you Dennis (and myself, although I'm not wanting to big myself up!), have stopped developing as a result. Look at the likes of Steve Thomas - he recently closed his website as a result of pathetic behaviour. The whole thing is infested with immaturity and childishness...and not just from the kids either!

It's a real shame, I've pretty much totally lost interest in BVE (not that I ever made anything...) because of the childish behaviour. One of the problems of making a "free" sim it would seem :?

A fair point. The interface between developers and users is much closer than in payware simulators. For example, developers for BVE class themselves as users as well, whereas those who develop for the payware simulators on a commercial level remain relatively anonymous.

I totally agree, I have also lost a lot of interest in the simulator because of childish behaviour. However I have also discovered that BVE is far inferior to simulators like Railworks, however BVE is an excellent freeware alternative.

For what it is, BVE is very good. Though as you said, correctly, in comparison to Railworks it's a fair few miles behind the competition.

It is indeed. I no longer play it as I prefer shunting on Railworks.

I Looked at some of the other BVE forums and laugh at the silly behaviour!

Railworks is top class, the best train sim on the market. Some may disagree, but in my eyes, you can't beat it. Trainz 2012 will have to be very good if it wants my vote of approval!

Welcome to the forum WinterChief! :)

Well I may be the only one to think this but I think this is farce. Why have you posted this thread on every BVE forum on the net?

Quite simple, Jake.

I refuse to have my reputation damaged by a thief, whose identity I now know as being from Conifer in Colorado, who is fraudulently impersonating me by sending out links to his stolen work in my name.

I don't think that you would like it.

Fully sympathise with you. Why have your reputation dammaged by someone's pathetic behaviour.
