Exeter St Davids

Hello everyone,

I'll be away on my hols to Cornwall in a couple of months time and will have a three quarters of an hour change at Exeter St Davids. Can anybody recommend any good real ale pubs within a short walking distance of the station?

The Imperial is a nice Weatherspoons just up the hill from the station. Other then that probably the Jolly Porter but not sure what their offerings are like. The Artful Dodger is now an Irish theme pub - can't confirm if it remains the dive it used to be.

Mill on the Exe does St Austell ales - that may be a bit far to get there and back in time though.

45 minutes probably tight to get to Spoons and back with a sensible amount of time to consume drink! (unless of course you fancy downing a pint etc )

I always use the Imperial but its a good uphill walk (fine for falling down) & you ain't got long. I have been told the Great Western Hotel opposite is ok now but will try myself next month.

That’s a shame, I developed a big soft spot for St Austell Ales last time I was down that way.

Ha ha, I probably ought to go responsibly as I’m meeting the family later on.

I might give the Imperial a try as I don’t drive and am used to walking everywhere anyway.

Well your best route to the Impy is to follow the signed pedestrian route to the city centre/university, you'll see the Impy's carpark exit when you get to the top of the footpath..

Reasonable reviews here...you can hope Princetown's Jail ale is on, had several goes at that in the Oddfellows in Falmouth the other week...

I always use beer in the evening to research pubs before visiting, I do find it pretty accurate. It certainly worked on a recent visit to Par, the Welcome Home Inn was spot on!

There is a pub in the station or opposite the station that sells real ale I'm sure.

Great Western Hotel has the best range of real ale in Exeter, i quaffed a few pints this lunchtime, its on St Davids station approach,left as you look from the station entrance.
