Hello all
On behalf of a friend here at uni I've tried looking for cheap tickets (with a Young Persons railcard) between Exeter St Davids and Worthing on either the evening of Friday 18 December or the morning of Saturday 19 December. All the advance fares appear to have dissappeared, and the cheapest fare I can find is an advance fare for £25, departing Exeter 19:48, changing at Taunton, arriving at Paddington at 22:30, departing Victoria at 23:17, and arriving at Worthing at 00:39. The cheapest fare avoiding London is an anytime single at £31.10. departing Exeter at 18:26, changing at Salisbury and Fareham, and arriving at Worthing at 22:52.
I've experimented with splitting the fares at Westbury, Salisbury, Southampton and Fareham, but buying seperate tickets for these legs always seems to cost more. For instance, an anytime single leaving Exeter at 08:49 on 19 December changing at Westbury and Fareham is £33.35; splitting the journey into seperate tickets at Westbury, Southampton Central and Fareham pushes the cost up to £35.80
It would be appreciated if someone could locate a cheaper fare for the journey, through experimenting with split ticketing or any AP fares I haven't noticed, bearing in mind me & this mate are students so we're not loaded!!
Thanks guys
