The Daily Bowl, it was to the right of the Exeter Central Entrance as you're looking at the building. They released a statement at the end of last year saying they were vacating because of the imminent start of works in that part of the building. Since then, some GWR decals have been put in the window but nothing else has been done to the space.

Probably as those gates are broken due to the countless pay when challenged of Honiton -> Pinhoe forcing their way through when they are remotely monitored knowing it's unlikely they will get checked when on the train due to the SDO stops
The issues with the New North Road gates are actually to do with power supply. Though as an aide, SWR Revenue Protection have been hitting the West of England line quite hard over the past 6 months!
Will this mean that the BO windows will be the wrong side of the gates?
Purely from a space planning perspective. I would expect there to be a relocated BO in the ‘new’ space where the cafe was previously. This space would also be used as temporary access while the new gateline is built inside the existing entrance.
The new booking office will be open plan and located where the current wall between the concourse and the empty shop is now.
About its 4th location in 30yrs. I remember when the current one was being built, some of the possibly original booking office windows were found behind a partition.
I remember the one that was by where the gateline is now, I think the frontage is the phone shop now! Passenger numbers have also skyrocketed in that time

Do ticket offices still take cash? I can't see how that would work with an open-plan arrangement, security-wise. I'm in Exeter and our rail user group will no doubt be keeping an eye on things.
Ticket offices and conductors take cash. It’s only some catering aspects that don’t for some reason.
Yes along with all the TVM's at Exeter Central, there are a few open plan GWR ticket offices on the network, it's nothing new
Have a look at Birmingham International or Glasgow Central (Avanti) booking offices if you want examples of how open plan works
Or Reading Green Park, Twyford, Paddington!
Will only get busier with the wider Devon Metro aspirations, would be great if eventually some direct services to CDF could be timetabled.
