Notwithstanding most of the Victoria line, the worst part for me is the new concrete Northern line tunnel between Moorgate and Bank. Most unpleasant!

Oxford Circus northbound to warren street is the worst with pimlico to victoria, Stockwell to vauxhall & kings cross to Euston tied

There was just a report on the televised BBC London news about the Victoria line regularly exceeding over 100 decibels. Noisiest stretch said to be between FB and H&I. The report said that it has become noisier. This is my own observation too. Does anyone know the reasons why it has become noisier in recent years - is it wear and tear of the track?

The RMT have taken action on noise levels on the Victoria line. The ballot was successful.

NOISE LEVELS ON THE VICTORIA LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

I write to advise you that the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows:-

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 159

Number of votes cast in the ballot 102

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question: 100

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question: 2

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned: 0

Both of the above results meet the thresholds imposed due the anti-trade union laws and the National Executive Committee has wholeheartedly congratulated members on delivering a ballot mandate for strike action and action short of a strike.

I will keep you advised of all further developments.

There's the glory of the South Wimbledon to Morden roar. Which is a truly terrifying sound.

There's a ghostly scream between FB and H&I, which comes from the disused running tunnel from Drayton Park now used to provide ventilation.

But my question is, why has it become worse? It was always one of the louder lines but it seems to be worse in recent years!

How can the T/Ops reduce the speeds of their trains when the trains are driven automatically by a computer? Are they putting them into manual override in protest?

Go 5mph slower on the noisy sections, and if the noise is still too much go 10mph slower on these sections. It's not hard

Noise is one reason I try to avoid the tube. The brakes on the S stock are quite loud.

Personally, on the one hand, I will miss the screeching sound of the Victoria Line; always makes me feel I'm going faster. However, I understand that I'm not the one driving the train all day and losing my hearing in the process.

I honestly think the Central Line is the worst for sound, particularly between Mile End and Stratford.

Go 5mph slower on the noisy sections, and if the noise is still too much go 10mph slower on these sections. It's not hard

I think it is if it makes a noticeable difference to passenger flow.
