Excessing SVR to return from a station on a different line.

I am planning to travel to Bangor using the Holyhead train from Euston.
If I get a SVR potters Bar to Bangor, is it possible to excess the return portion to return from Porthmadog via the Cambrian Coast Line?
I intend to stay in Snowdonia for 3 days then need to get the train from Porthmadog & then stay for a few days in Aberdovey & then stay another couple of days in Shrewsbury before returning to Hertfordshire.

If it isn't possible I will just use the return part back from Shrewsbury. (getting singles for Porthmadog-Aberdovey & Aberdovey-Shrewsbury)

Best way is probably to buy a ticket to the point of deviation of the original ticket.
