Excessing one way advance tickets

Can an advance (one way ticket) be excessed into a return, an SSR/SVR etc?

Yes, the difference and £10 admin fee is charged before the departure of the first reservable service.

This can also be done with the "Return" leg if you miss the outward train.

So if, for example, you had a £6.00 Advance from London to Birmingham and a £20.00 Advance for Birmingham to London, you could Excess to a Super Off-Peak Return from London to Birmingham for £7.50 plus the £10.00 Change of Journey fee.

However in this case you would have to query why you would buy the advance tickets in the first place and all travel and the return advance would still have to be on London midland.

The typical scenario would be where you originally intended to catch a peak time train on the Return leg, hence the higher Advance fare, but are now in time to get one where the Super Off-Peak is valid. And not that it particularly matters, but those were Chiltern fares, not London Midland.

It should be noted that the origin and destination must be the same (although can be reversed, as mentioned), and any restrictions on the original ticket as to which train operating company must be used still apply.
