Good afternoon

A while ago, I bought a few train tickets via the First Hull Trains website to take advantage of Quidco's 2% cashback offer. A couple of these tickets were CDS fares. None of the tickets I bought have been collected from a TVM.

Due to a change in my travel plans, I need to excess the two CDS tickets to CDRs. Do the tickets need to be excessed online, or can they be excessed on train or at a ticket office once I've collected them?

You can excess online tickets at a booking office just fine.

Whether you will find someone who will excess a single to a return is another matter.

As long as they are printed on orange RSP stock and not print@home, mobile, smart or another newfangled technology, the fact that they were bought online doesn't make any difference.

Excessing a single to a return is not one of the excesses that you are contractually entitled to, but there are many clerks out there who will happily do this type of excess (even London Overground!)
