4 of us already have group off-peak singles for SWT's 10 50 Havant to Reading via Guildford this Sunday - 4 x £17.50 = £70. We now realise that we could well miss this train by a few minutes and may have to take the next quickest train to Reading, ie. 11 07 which does not permit group save discount because part of the journey is by Cross Country. 1 of our number holds a senior railcard so the same through journey is £82.35.
Am I correct in saying it would be £12.35 that would be payable for the Guildford - Reading leg by excess fare or is it some other figure? We may have liitle time to queue for tickets and have only 10 mins between trains to exit Guildford to buy those and return so presumably it's ok to pay this on board the first leg.
