It's in the recent RAIL Magazine. I read it this morning. More mk4s have gone to EMR for scrap.
Scrapped: ex LNER 11408, 11415, 12429, 12431 and 12515. 12467 is still at Worksop and has been sold to TFW for use in their Mk4 rakes. Page 13 in the Rail Magazine Issue 1063.Those MK4s would be the ex LNER ones no?
AFAIK 12447 was written off after the Leominster incident akomg with 82229 so 12467 will be a replacement for that and formed into HD08.Scrapped: ex LNER 11408, 11415, 12429, 12431 and 12515. 12467 is still at Worksop and has been sold to TFW for use in their Mk4 rakes. Ah right ok. Didn't know 82229 has been written off as well.AFAIK 12447 was written off after the Leominster incident akomg with 82229 so 12467 will be a replacement for that and formed into HD08.

HD08 is made up of ex VTEC livery MK4s, that's an ex Grand Central set, one of HD04-HD07I was at Worksop on Tuesday and saw what I thought was HD08 but it only had four carriages and the DVT.
Only one carriage displayed any numbers on it: 10305.
Am I correct in assuming it’s HD08 and does anyone know which carriage is missing please?
Apologies for the poor quality photo, it was taken from distance and the lighting was poor.

Don't think any of HD04-HD07 are at Worksop at the moment?HD08 is made up of ex VTEC livery MK4s, that's an ex Grand Central set, one of HD04-HD07
I mean, one clearly is, given the photoDon't think any of HD04-HD07 are at Worksop at the moment?
It's HD08. It's been painted black, as seen in the photoI mean, one clearly is, given the photo
Unless its been repainted to match HD04-HD07 since the black livery is what the ex VTEC ones will be repainted into aswell.HD08 is made up of ex VTEC livery MK4s, that's an ex Grand Central set, one of HD04-HD07
Why is 10305 in the formation then?HD08 is made up of ex VTEC livery MK4s, that's an ex Grand Central set, one of HD04-HD07
HD01-HD03 are definitely getting a new paint job at some point but unsure if the others are as well? Why would they paint it in a livery that technically isn't theirs? Also, weren't they all supposed to be getting a black/red livery to replace both current liveries the sets have?

Can confirm with certainty that the coaches at Worksop are 5 of the 6 vehicles from HD08. The last one to be added is a TO recently used in the LNER fleet so wont require anything near as much work to get it servicable, other than SDO fitment, LED lights etc as per the rest of the fleet.Maybe @sd0733 can confirm?

Thanks @sd0733 for confirming. Can confirm with certainty that the coaches at Worksop are 5 of the 6 vehicles from HD08. HD01-03 will be through the works first for a full overhaul, repaint, interior works and some upgrades/modifications. Theyve recently had some work to extend their time to overhaul with the delays to HD08.
Final livery last i heard was black.with red doors and embelishments so it is suprising to see 08 in effectively Grand Central livery without the stripe. Not too sure what interior work HD08 has had so its possible its not had the interior works and the final livery will be for the fully refurbished sets but thats an educated guess.
Not long to wait now anyway, shouldnt be too long before it leaves Worksop.
Any time period for when HD08 leaves Worksop? Can confirm with certainty that the coaches at Worksop are 5 of the 6 vehicles from HD08. All being well will be Weeks rather than months!Any time period for when HD08 leaves Worksop?
That appears to be the one being used. The rest of it is 82204 11324 10305 12308 12215.Can anyone please can the current formation of HD08? I assume the additional coach to add to the formation is 12467, recently retired from LNER services?
Thanks
Aren't those three sets still in (essentially) the Virgin Trains East Coast vinyl wrap over the previous East Coast grey/silver paint? If so, they're probably overdue a repaint since the sets that remained with LNER got a repaint into LNER's faux IC Swallow scheme.HD01/02/03 are all still red but should head off for repaint early next year one by one.
Since the Grand Central sets are black, painting HD01-HD03 (and HD08) white with red doors (as per the 197s and FLIRTs) would instead result in a mismatch within TfW's mark 4 fleet. I note also that the new TaithCymru express coach route between Bangor and Carmarthen will apparently have a predominately black livery, so maybe TfW are aiming for black liveries on their more-premium long-distance services?Into the classy white with red doors as per the rest of the fleet, or the long ago mentioned black with red doors, ridding the chance of a uniform look?
Why aren't they cleared? Could it just be a paper exercise to get it sorted, since Arriva had a mark 3 set on Holyhead/Llandudno-Manchester services for a while and the mark 4s are built to the same BR loading gauge (C3) as the mark 3s?Thats not going to happen as theyre not cleared Chester to Warrington.A nice set on the Holyhead to Manchester diagrams would be handy in the summer
Potentially there could be a weekend Holyhead-Crewe diagram using the spare rake at Holyhead. This ran at Christmas and has run on Summer Saturdays in the past.
However, the doors on one of the coaches are painted gold/copper/brass, not white/red/silver/grey as had been expected. Do TfW have any spare ex. Grand Central coaches that one might be?It's HD08. It's been painted black, as seen in the photo![]()
I've seen photos recently of a MK3 with it's VTEC vinyls stripped, showing the NXEC livery underneath, so I imagine it would be the same for the MK4sAren't those three sets still in (essentially) the Virgin Trains East Coast vinyl wrap over the previous East Coast grey/silver paint? Yes, they are well past their due date for a repaint. Not only do the vinyls now look pretty awful on a lot of coaches, they have to have additonal condition checks to keep them in service until their overhaul. Unfortunately the Leominster incident delayed things somewhat.Aren't those three sets still in (essentially) the Virgin Trains East Coast vinyl wrap over the previous East Coast grey/silver paint? I believe that is the intention with the white being the basic livery and the black for the 'Premier' fleets.I note also that the new TaithCymru express coach route between Bangor and Carmarthen will apparently have a predominately black livery, so maybe TfW are aiming for black liveries on their more-premium long-distance services?
Proving runs werent done over that section, there were plans at one stage to do them but in the end wasnt considered a worthwhile use of time and resources and was scrapped.Aren't those Why aren't they cleared? Thats exactly as per all GC sets, Standard class coach doors are Grey/Silver and First are GoldHowever, the doors on one of the coaches are painted gold/copper/brass, not white/red/silver/grey as had been expected. Do TfW have any spare ex. Grand Central coaches that one might be?
Just 4 coaches then not the 5 the others have? That appears to be the one being used. The rest of it is 82204 11324 10305 12308 12215.
