Just what would you replace pacers with then...

And besides, have you ever travelled on London Underground A60 or C69 stocks, or FCC's 313s? pacers are club class compared

I think that the 142/143/144 family should be replaced as they are getting old compared to modern DMU's and they are all knackered!
They weren't really meant to last this long were they?

I would replace pacers with 170/172s... even 185s, but they're probably more natural replacements for sprinters.

185s wouldn't be good - they are designed for semi-express services. 172s would be ideal, or a diesel version of something like 455s?

thats what i was thinking of, or a 175, the 185 would be non first class, and would be fine for local services.

Heaton doesn't have a lot of EX FNW 142's , 156's yeah. It did have some EX FNW 142's these were stored a bit ago. The one i seen was in passenger service.

Its still around that EX FNW unit. Must be Heaton allocated forever now. Having said that what goes up must go back down. It'll find its way home soon hopefully. Actually there might be two EX FNW sets around now.

Oh and there was a class 153 at Heaton aswell last Saterday just gone. Hope that its only up here for work being done on it. Really don't want the old 153's back up here.

We only get 142's and 156's up here. The occasional 158 when its get a bit lost ! Didn't know that there was 3 ex FNW sets up here thought 2 at most but 3 ! ahh. Their awfull things but as somebody rightly pointed out not as bad as the Ex Misery sets.

Anyone know if that 153's still sitting at Heaton.
