EWS Haymarket to Waverley

Twice over the last couple of months I've seen loco hauled carriages, all in EWS maroon livery, carry passengers between Haymarket and Waverley (eastbound). It's been around 0825 on weekdays.

Anyone any idea what this working is? Where it begins and terminates? Just curious.
