Hi. Does anyone know the fate of the ews liveried parcel train. Numbers are 95300/1 and 95400/410. The train is formed with former PCB propelling vehicles.
Sorry...Dont know what has happend to the PCV's, presumably stored now...As for the EWS Parcels train, correct me if im wrong but i think the GUV's are now being used as Barrier wagons...which as of late have mainly been used with a 67 on the Southampton Docks to Ashford Javelin moves...
Both the Great Central and Nene Valley Railways have a rake of 4 ex-EWS Mk 1 TPO vehicles. Not sure which other lines have them.
Was at the Nene Valley last weekend and you can still look around inside some of the coaches, they're still in fairly authentic condition, with EWS notices dotted around them too. They also run demonstrations of the parcels train itself, check their website for when, not sure if this is every weekend.
They've also fitted the receiving nets which some of the coaches were designed to have installed but never did in service, and are building (or have built, can't remember) the trackside apparatus to go with it. See between 2:00 and 2:30 of this clip of Night Mail (1936).
sorry for repeating this post. I am new to this Forum and I have made a few mistakes. I have to admit it is not an easy forum to follow. Maybe it is just me. So give me a chance folks!!
