EWS 67020 Pulling ATW 16.50 MAN -LLD

Not sure where the regular set was yesterday but had a surprise waiting on platform 14 at Manchester Piccadilly and seeing EWS 67020 pulling into the platform pulling 4 x Welsh Government branded coaches to take me home to Llandudno.

What has happened to the usual unit? Are the WAG branded coaches always used on this run or have they been loaned from Gerald stock? I thought the new coaches made for this set were just ATW & DB branded.

Was a very pleasant ride and really busy as far as Chester.

67020 not 67120. Working again today having taken over from 67001 due to B Exam. Don't know about tomorrow as understand Exam now complete.

This working is booked for a loco hauled rake. It has been running for a couple of months now and it runs all day.

It runs to the end of the current ATW franchise.

4 X mark three carriages,top & tailed by DVT & Class 67 loco.

For use between Chester & Manchester? blame DB for repositioning it.

Understand severe flats were on DVT and not possible to turn on lathe. May be new wheel set required, so watch this space for developments.

Holyhead to Cardiff today = 67029 and DVT 82301
Manchester North Wales = 67001 and DVT 82306

ATW have three DVTs (82306-82308) and a fourth is being overhauled currently for ATW.

That will mean that there will be a spare DVT for each of the loco hauled sets.
