Everos to Carlisle

Hi there,
The past two days avanti has been running evero trains from oxley to Carlisle via oxenholme. Does anyone know why? I would of guessed it’s for the diversions in January but they didn’t follow that route?

Whilst i know the title is about Everos, can an 805 work with a TP 802 and two sets during the blockage to help Avanti to continue offering a full North Wales service? Perhaps going forward under GBR when they are both state owned.

The Combined Volume says so; in the details text under each IET class it says: "Multiple working: within class and all classes 8xx"

From what I can make out, some Chester/North Wales services will be terminated at Crewe, with some paths south of there going to 390s spare from the Cumbria closure.
That would maintain end-to-end services at the expense of a change at Crewe.

That’s not true - LNER units cannot work with TPE, LUMO, Hull etc. They can physically couple but TMS incompatibilities mean they cannot electrically couple.

To do route learning runs from Carlisle to Preston and back via Hellifield and Blackburn, IIRC. Possibly also practical handling experience for Preston drivers and train managers? All connected with the Preston-Carlisle shuttles during the Clifton motorway bridge closure in January.

It’s not going via the s&c though it’s going up the WCML

In that case, I think they will be crew traction familiarisation runs, with route learning/refreshing runs via the S&C coming later.

Route leading for who, avanti staff commented on a post about it saying everyone at Preston is trained on them. Could they be training Scottish staff?

For the first four days of the Clifton blockade there is also an engineering blockade at Preston so the Evero shuttles will operate between Wigan NW and Carlisle via the Farington Junction to Lostock Hall Junction curve from 1st to 4th January.
