Had a ride up to Edinburgh yesterday. As well as plenty of freight action on the way including 66047 and 66597 we saw the Jarrow Oil Tanks, 180105 on test and CrossCountry power cars at Craigentinney. Other sights of interest were the mothballed flask loading point and Duneray and a 66 discharging waste from the Edinburgh 'Bin Liner'.
Rare milage was obtained by going off the 'Main' at King Edward Bridge South Junction and looping round to the station and approaching from the North before reversing to continue the journey. Thjis move was performed to turn the raken making the First Class accomodation at the rear of the train as is standrard procedure.
At Edinburgh I saw 67024 and 90019 as well as a Pendolino and plenty of FSR units. The return asw us pass the Fife Circle Loco Hauled (any ideas of a loco??) as well as some action at Craigentinney. Beyond the stunning coastline of the borders the jorny was uneventful but enjoyable.
All in all a good day out,
