Evening Delays on Newport - Gloucester line

Every evening I am stuck delayed, be it on the 1735 or 1835, FROM Caldicot to Chepstow.

I assume this is related to Cardiff or Newport, could anyone shed any light? I haven't had an on time train for weeks and while accepting this happens wonder what the reason is?

I’ve just checked JourneyCheck and RealTimeTrains - The 18:35 from Caldicot is showing as having been delayed at Bridgend due to ‘a late running train being in front of this one’. Looking at RTT, the train actually left Cardiff late on the previous journey towards Maesteg. There isn’t much turnaround time at Maesteg so it was late leaving there on the return journey to Gloucester and was further delayed at Wildmill.

The 17:35 from Caldicot today was more or less on time. It left Caldicot 2 minutes late and arrived 1 minute late into Chepstow.

So I'm just unlucky? XD

In all seriousness both trains are delayed every day I get then. I alternate between them based on my shifts and the constant delays everytime I want a train, while out of the control of staff, do get rather annoying

 

[Watershed]

1 mins' delay to each train was attributed to a "Temporary" Speed Restriction due to inadequate level crossing sighting time between Bridgend and Pontyclun. However, apart from the imported delay from the previous working of the 17:35, the majority of the delay was unaccounted for.

Also seemed to be some quite severe delays in the Gloucester/Cheltenham area on Monday evening from about 21:00 until the end of the day for some reason.
