Euston to Stalybridge 23/7

As well as me going to Stalybridge on the 23rd July (I got my tickets for £11.50 in the end), I've got a friend travelling up from London. She's hoping to arrive at Stalybridge for 12:26 and leave at 19:46. She says that NRE are saying to change at Manchester Victoria for Stalybridge and that she could do it for £53 return. Does anyone know any cheaper tickets than that? It looks to me as if she could get cheap advance singles going out, but not coming back. Personally, I can't see how they've arrived at the £53 either.

I can't see how they've arrived at the £53 either.

It seems to me that £53 may be the sum of an Advance single in one direction and a "SVH" ticket in the other.

"SVH" used to be called Saver half return and is now called Off-Peak Single. It is sold only with a ticket for the same journey in the opposite direction, and is valid Off-Peak on the date printed on the ticket only. Currently SVH between London and Stalybridge is £35.

Looking like no advance tickets available on the 0940 with the one change at Piccadilly...

The return is looking like no advance tickets available at all, maybe something to do with an event going on..

If you can go via York and leave at 1826. An Advance single is available to Kings Cross for £23.00

Do be aware that a ticket from London will not be valid on the Metrolink (despite appearing to be on most journey planners). Metrolink will charge you a lot if you try to travel with just that tivekt.
