Hi all, hopefully a simple one for the forum hive mind..

I need to get from Euston to North West Wales leaving say 22nd or 23rd Dec and return 3rd or 4th January. I'm having hassle using the Avanti and GWR app to try and book services, is there some issue with them being fully booked or not published yet? Avanti is the only option for me, using the Pit of the Abyss that is TfW and being rammed on some two carriage pile of junk with some change at Chester = No.

Trainsplit (Official Split Tickets With Trainsplit | Etickets | Mobile App) can find tickets on all trains. You can deselect TfW in advanced options.

It's the return trip causing you the problem. I added the comment below (in brackets) in a different thread, to do with Avanti West Coast fares not being available. ((Its something to do with the WCML closed direct from Rugby to Milton Keynes Central, services that are running are diverting via Northampton. The closure is from around the 3rd/4th January to Wednesday 12th. Advance tickets for Nuneaton to London Euston have just been released for Thursday 13th January but for LNWR only, (but returning to going via Weedon). AWC fares not realised for the 13th though)). I think the normal range of fares are not available and journey planners are not picking up journeys involving AWC. The fares showing from Trainsplit are for, using the example from my local station, Nuneaton to London Euston are showing for West Midland Railways. AWC not available

Mystery solved! Thanks for that, neither app flagged that gem up, they just baulked..... I am now sorted though so thanks all!!

I take it that you are really going to Anglesey and not Ireland as a foot passenger on the ferry? (Through tickets from the UK to Ireland are usually cheaper than tickets to north Wales. Stena Line can be used but here is the Irish Ferries offering).
