Tomorrow I am looking to buy a ticket from Euston to Manchester with a young persons discount.

I am looking to travel around 8am when I saw on the Virgin website that it was offeringoff peak ticketsfor travel at this time I phoned NRE to see if this was correct they told me the website is broken and off peak is only after 10am with a railcard.

What is correct 8am as per the website or after 10am?

Thanks

If the ticket is London Terminals to Manchester Stations, you can use a railcard discounted Off-Peak single (SVS) or Return (SVR) at any time on Virgin Trains provided you only use Virgin Trains services. The very same ticket without a Railcard discount, or used (for any part of the journey) on another TOC, has peak time restrictions.

You must travel solely in Virgin services if you would like to make an 'anytime' journey with an off-peak ticket...this is only allowed with railcards. No railcard = anytime ticket.

The person on the telephone was wrong. He/she may potentially have gotten very confused about the 10am minimum fare for 16-25 Railcards.

The advise given by National Rail Enquiries was incorrect. I suggest you write in to NRE to ask them to look at this again, because otherwise this operator will keep giving out incorrect information. I know there are some very helpful people in charge at NRE who would appreciate the feedback and strive to improve the quality of service given.
