What a bugger! I've been getting the 1823 ex Euston to get home earlier. Would have been worth waiting till 1903 to "experience" the LHCS :D

Is it a push-pull operation, or a 'true' loco-hauled?

Yep that's how I saw it earlier. I'm just waiting for 12 Min to pass to watch it go past my window again :)

Yes 90020 is there today, might be using it later to travel to the Black Hole of the Midlands!

Well it might as well,
Anyway, I'm on it to experience loco hauled traction in the daytime on the WCML.

It was a DBS class 90 on Monday morning (10.43).

I had booked well in advance to get the 10.40 Pendolino service to Crewe, then on to Derby from there, If I had known this I would have booked the 10.43 loco hauled to Birmingham New Street and onto Derby from there.

Well I'm using a XC back to Peterborough, not impressed with the timekeeping of the traincrew though - getting onboard a minute to departure is very slack.
Would have thought the crew would have been there in time especially to answer passenger enquires!

Is it just running for the Christmas/ Sales period or is it covering for a dodgy 'lino?

I believe it's running for the next 6 weeks, you have plenty of time to arrange a trip.

The trip on the Virgin service was very quiet compared with the heaving bodies on the Cross Country service, I'm just glad it was a 3 car Turbostar and not a 2 car one.

Still, anyone could have had a free ride on it as not once did the guard or ticket inspector make a appearance - all you got from the guard was "The next station is Stamford", that's the difference between mistaking it for a DOO service!

The Virgin train manager was quite pleasant, the difference was he did make himself known.

Still, I know not all guards are like that as there's a few who are great and do a good job.

do all parties involved have any sort of agreement to stop the FSR liveried locos turning up on this duty? I know no such agreement was/is in place with NXEA when they've hired in DBS locos

The dbs 90s are all in a common pool so an fsr could work it and has done in the past
