Euston - gated access to Eversholt St?

Just got off an Avanti and could easily reach the gate onto Eversholt St, making it easier to walk to St. Pancras and avoiding the congestion on the concourse. If a % of pax alighting did that it would relieve some of that congestion.
Has it ever been done, if not has it ever been considered or even thought of?
Clearly it's inaccessible from most platforms but not the two or three at that end?

Until the HS2 work made it impractical the gate by P16 was always left open for commuters to access the platform directly (both in and out) which indeed saved congestion on the concourse and the relatively narrow ramp. I too have never quite understood why the P1 gate was never used in a similar way, at least for arrivals. Only time I recall the P16 gate being shut was during the Olympics when it was part of the security risk assessment to keep it shut - once that was over it was open again.

At peak hours at least it would make sense to me, in fact as our tickets were neither checked on the train nor at the arrival gate, so no need for a ticket gate their either!

But you would need some kind of gate to stop pax walking in I suppose!

It is sometimes used when there are events.

issue is with Camden Council not approving it as an entrance - can’t remember why exactly but I am sure it was to do with some form of protection from traffic / crash barrier.

A simple barrier would suffice? If it's used for events, that suggests a large crowd therefore greater risk than at normal times, when closed so their stance doesn't make sense!

I don’t know the full detail so don’t quote me on it…

A fixed barrier is no good as coaches need to get in and out..
