Euston disruption 27/2

Fun at Euston all trains have been suspended.due to a person being struck by a train.

Apparently 1A59 (VT MAN-EUS) is the one involved - with cab damage and requiring dragging. According to Twitter, anyway.

If so, I hope the driver is ok - sounds like a very bad one. (Not to suggest any fatality is anything otherwise)

Sadly I'm hearing another service was involved too. It seems three Thunderbirds have been sent out to rescue units, most likely the two involved. Thoughts with the families and staff tonight.

I'm caught up in this. I was on the 1936 LM service from Nuneaton to Euston. We were held at Rugby before proceeding to Milton Keynes where the train terminated. We were told to get on a Virgin train from Milton Keynes which has run on the slow lines practically all the way. Apparently this train turned round at MKC which I would have thought is quite unusual given it has made it through the disrupted area.

We crawled through Kings Langley on the slows. To the south of the station were two penldolinos, one on each fast line, with the front of the southbound one being inspected by several 'orange jackets'. Couldn't see much else due to it being dark.

Thoughts are with those involved.

According to http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/WJ/1 this is indeed correct, looks as though 1H83 the 1857 VT Euston to Manchester train was also involved, thoughts to all involved.

1A59 is being dragged to Longsight. The other train involved in the incident was 1F26.
1H83 had the passengers transferred to it from 1A59 to transport them to Hemel where there could get a Train south.

Unfortunately it seems 1F26 was passing at the exact same time and somewhat caught the aftermath. Was able to continue after a short stop, but did terminate early.

Movements also slowed by the fact that a booked possesion meant trains later on had to run via Northampton.

A member of my team at work jumped in front of a train at Radlett last year. I know it sounds flippant but we didn't see it coming and when ever I hear of an incident I think of the persons family and of course the driver and their family who will support them.
