Eurostar routing in the Netherlands

I came to Amsterdam via Eurostar on the 0616 from London St Pancras yesterday morning, and I noticed that we passed through Den Haag HS and Leiden Centraal - is this the normal routing and has this always been the case? I’d thought/assumed Eurostar used the HSL between Rotterdam and Amsterdam

It's not normal, usually it does take the high-speed line.

No that's not normal, but there are engineering works ongoing at Schiphol Airport at the moment resulting in reduced capacity.
Diverting via Haarlem, Leiden and the Hague then is the most convenient alternative.

Ah the Schiphol engineering work! I’m quite grateful for that today the ICD I’m on from Rotterdam to Lelystad Centrum has been diverted to Amsterdam Centraal which feels a bit unusual.
