Hi all,
Just wondered whether anyone had experience on what I should do with an upcoming Eurostar trip from Paris to London in late-October.

The website is currently showing £105 per person for peak-trains, and £89.50 per person for off-peak trains.
Just to clarify, this is a one-way journey with 3 people travelling.

I'm wondering whether to wait a bit longer before booking, as August prices are lower than this, or whether this is the best price I am going to get on a Friday in October this year?
Many thanks.

I can see several £57 fares for Fridays in October going the other way (London-Paris) and £49.50 fares on Thursdays in late-October going Paris-London.

That suggests to me that the fares you are seeing are the cheapest left - i.e. if you wait longer they will only go up further.

Eurostar has been emailing me about their latest "sale" for some time now (at least a month), so I think any cheaper tickets are gone. I had to replan my June trip(s) 3 times (in May) because by the time I confirmed the rest of the trip, the price had gone up.

However they may have another "sale" after school summer holidays are over, but by then October trains may be getting close to fully booked, so I don't know whether you should lock in £89.50 now or not.

If you buy a £100 Eurostar ticket today, and then it is discounted to £50 in a sale, if you then swap the ticket, do they give you £100 to spend on another ticket, or £50?

The correct answer is £0. The tickets are never refundable. All you can do is change the £100 ticket for another date, provided you are beyond a week away from the first leg of the booking, and then buy the £50 fare separately.

But is it £100 for another ticket (the price you paid) or £50 (the current price for the same ticket)?

If you want to switch to another ticket which has already been discounted, then it wouldn't matter much, but it would if one of the tickets was on a date that was blocked from the sale.

Effectively, the £100 becomes a non-refundable credit for a new journey. If the new journey is more expensive than £100, the difference must be paid. But, if cheaper, you don't get a refund. You can't switch a £100 booking to a £50 one and get the difference back either as a payment or a credit for another journey.

I suspect October is a peak time for ES with our half term and French autumn holidays. However, if there are 'Q' paths showing on RTT that aren't open for booking, it is possible that they may add trains which will start at £59 or whatever.
This has certainly happened in August, which I happen to have checked today - trains have appeared that aren't in ERT or the international Hafas database, and are relatively cheap.
OTOH, if eg the 1131 and 2001 ex STP are already shown, bad luck!
