Eurostar panic

I'm travelling at 9 something am tomorrow to Paris with the Mrs spending the night there as its her bday.

Just got a notification via Sky news app that all trains are suspended again, thought can't see any mention of this on the website.

What are the chances of travelling tomorrow?

To make things worse I'm currently stuck at Amsterdam airport in the BA lounge with my mate. been on a jolly boys p*ss up here. Was supposed to be in the air now on flight to city airport, but got cancelled. This was a nightmare as we had to leave the lounge (20 min temp walk via outside to terminal!) go back though passport/arrivals to collect luggage, then to re book then check in again in new flight at 1410 (obviously delayed) to T5

Should I just give up altogether ?? :cry:

Thought about that but I have the tickets for th eurostar with me. We are in standard prem, as I booked with discount they are non refundable or changeable etc so wud cost me a fortune to sort that :/

Hahha indeed very little leaving AMS and what does seriously delayed. Rarely fly business but very glad I did this time.

Have a picture on iPad of the fog out of the window, it's something else ! Dunno how to get it on here tho

Never seen fog like it

I've been stuck at Schiphol due to fog before, total nightmare. It was so bad you couldn't see out of the glass in the central bit of departures though so totally understand why they had to cancel flight.

Eventually got back to LHR T5 at about 1600, so really not to bad as I was originally due in LCY at 1340. As I live in West London it wasn't disastrous

Interestingly it's ground operations that are knackered by fog. It isn't a problem for the flying bit, as instruments can be used, while autoland or an automated take-off can ensure these are safe provided you can make out the runway lights, AIUI.

Only at Cat 3B ILS equipped airports. In terms of landing, the airport's systems have to be the equal of the aeroplane's.

Although the main hubs (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester, etc) are so equipped in this country, many regional airports (for example Birmingham, Southampton, and London City) are not.

Serious note, does anyone know what I'll be entitled to and how to claim it ? He was 80 mins late into Paris. The guard announced something about 50% off future journey, I'd rather have case back obviously as I'm not sure the 50% off would apply to discounted tickets

Perhaps you should consult the Eurostar website and find the answer there rather than expecting others to provide the answers - you will be the only one with all the information!

I picked up a compensation booklet at St Pancras after my delayed journey - I think you can also claim 25% back from a single or 12.5% back from a return journey rather than getting a discount on a new booking. I was e-mailed by Eurostar too with instructions of how to claim.

Thanks for this. More more helpful than the reply above yours, which was in fact rather rude I thought....

Fact of the matter was I couldn't access the Eurostar website for this info as I only had my iPhone and kept going to the mobile site which doesn't provide the info (despite requesting desktop site)...

However I could negotiate this fine forum hence my post(s).... So I am sorry if I caused upset/offence Flash!
