Eurostar leaving Brussels in reverse direction?

This evening the 19.52 Eurostar to London left Brussels Midi in the opposite direction from normal so that the first carriages out were 15/16 rather than 1-2, but the train itself was in the usual position on track 1, with the first carriages (1/2) just at the end of the covered part of the station and 15/16 closest to the boarding area. Does anyone have any idea why that might be, please?

There may be many reasons, like disruptions on arrival forcing the train to arrive the other way round due to a diversion. What also may have been the case is a malfunction in one of the cabs. Reversing the train then is an option to avoid needing to cancel it completely.

Your post is somewhat confusing by the way, as you cannot leave track 1 in Brussels in another direction (as the track ends in Brussels Midi), that's why I'm assuming you mean the train was the other way round in the above reply.

On a late running Amsterdam originating service once we were routed on the west side of the Brussels. We then arrived in the terminating platform of Midi before reversing out to continue to London.

Yes I think that happened when I came home from Brussels a few years ago. We were cleared to board the train but once we got to the platform the train wasn't there. After a few minutes it came in. That set had come from Amsterdam.
