Hi folks.

Can any of you kind pepole tell me if the original BR staff discount still applies.
A number of years ago all BR staff privilege ticket holders were entitled to a 25% discount on the Eurostar fares.
Is this still the case ?

I know it will probably be cheaper buying a fare through Eurostar in advance as a normal customer, with the discounts.
My local station (Edinburgh) that i used to previously book through, the ticket office gave me a blank look & told me to contact Eurostar.

Thanks in advance.

Current staff fares can be found on the News and Offers page of the Rail Staff Travel section of the ATOC site and booked through Deutsche Bahn UK.

I remember when it was GNER that the main travel centre at Edinburgh used to sell Eurostar tickets - very handy for my trips! You will almost always be cheaper using priv/FIP than public rates - even public offers. Don't think it is a 75% discount anymore but a flat rate. You can buy 1st class tickets (now known as Standard Premier) even if you hold STD priv facilities for £38 single.
Not only that but staff tickets are fully exchangeable/refundable prior to departure so offer greater flexibility.

If you don't already have one apply for a FIP (International Reduced Rate Card) if you are eligible. Rail Staff Travel in London will confirm (if you are retired contact Pensions at Darlington for advice).

Current staff fares can be found on the News and Offers page of the Rail Staff Travel section of the ATOC site and booked through Deutsche Bahn UK.

I use DB UK a fair few times a year and have always received a fast & accurate service.

If you want any advice about using your travel facilities abroad feel free to ask here or you can PM me.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info guys:D

I have the FIP card but no longer valid, last stamp was 2002.
I have never used it since i got it.
Been over to France & Belgium with Eurostar many a times, but those trips were booked through my local ticket office.
Will contact the offices as per your replies & book another trip.

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

You just send it back to RSTL who will restamp for the current year (as long as there are still stamp boxes on the card?)

If you don't qualify for free travel in the UK (e.g. TOCNE) but do qualify for privs then you can purchase cheaper tickets to London to correspond with your Eurostar ticket - the destination to ask for is London International CIV + about £15 from Edinburgh with your priv card.
