European Station Listings

Afternoon all

I am trying to find somewhere that lists each countries stations so I can easily copy them into an excel document.

I am planning some trips around Europe and would like to keep a record of the stations I visit.

Found these:

https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luettelo_Suomen_rautatieliikennepaikoista - sort the table by Lakkautettu (Discontinued), and the ones with "ei" meaning no are still in operation. However this list seems to include non-passenger places, ie: cargo loading.

Section 6: Rautatieliikennepaikat ja liikennepaikkojen osat rataosittain ( Railway traffic places and traffice places by railway section ) which contains long lists of places

Eg:
Nimi Toinen nimi Lyhenne Km-sijainti H T Välimatka Kumulmatka Tyyppi <- title: Name, "Second name", Short name, Position (km+km), H = henkilö (passenger), T= tavara (freight), distance and type
Kirkkonummi Kyrkslätt Kkn 37+503 K K 2,022 36,9 liikennepaikka <- Kirkkonummi, Kyrkslätt (name in Swedish), KKN (short name), 37.503km, Passenger, Freight, 2,022km (not sure), 36.9km (from Helsinki or track section), "Traffic place"

For type you will also see: liikennepaikan osa (HELSINKI) Traffic Places (part) (not sure exactly what this means), seisake = halt, linjavaihde = turn out (on a main line). Basically Liikennepaika (+osa) and seiaske are the stations (if they admit passenger traffic).

Most French transport schedules are on https://transport.data.gouv.fr, but most other pieces of data about rail are on https://data.sncf.com

I am planning some trips around Europe and would like to keep a record of the stations I visit.

The easiest way to do that is to enter them into a list as you visit. Only when you need to know what you haven’t (yet) visited do you need a comprehensive list (which will run well into 5 figures - though I doubt it will quite reach 6, unless you count the whole of the ex USSR as Europe!). Keeping a list that comprehensive up to date would also be a task for Sysiphus.

A couple of years ago I found https://github.com/trainline-eu/stations - Stations - A Database of European Train Stations

Trainline EU sells tickets for numerous train operators across Europe.

This repository contains the information Trainline EU uses to identify stations across the diverse systems of the train operators.

... which may give what is sought. I've no idea how complete/up to date/meaningful it all is, but I got a 63900 line spreadsheet out it (then - now more)

Warning though - it contains many probably not stations... (You'll have to work out how to tell which they are)
